Tagged-Christmas Version

Wrapping paper or gift bags? Depends on the gift. If it will be pretty wrapped, I prefer to wrap it

Tree--Real or Artificial? Artificial

Ever re-gift a gift you've been given? Yes, but only if I received the gift in a secret/dirty santa gift exchange. I have never regifted somthing that was specifically bought for me.

When do you put your Christmas tree up? Usually the day after Thanksgiving

When do you take the tree down? after New Year's

Like eggnog? Yes, although I never buy it because I'm the only one in my family that likes it.

Do you have a nativity scene? No

Hardest person to buy for? Wes. The things I know he really wants are impossible for me to pick out... guns, hunting gear, etc. I know NOTHING about that kind of stuff!

Easiest person to buy for? Kross, but I'm sure this is only a phase :)

Mail or email a Christmas card? Mail

Favorite Christmas movie? Home Alone & How the Grinch Stole Christmas

When do you start shopping for Christmas? very. last. minute. I don't think I'll ever stop procrastinating. It happens every year!

Favorite food to eat on Christmas? Breakfast casserole... it's a family tradition :)

Clear or colored tree lights? Clear

Favorite Christmas Song? White Christmas (although I can't remember the last white Christmas we've had!)

Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? We open presents with my family on Christmas Eve. The three of us open ours on Christmas morning and then we get together with Wes' family sometime after that.

Most annoying thing about this time of year? How the true meaning of Christmas has been replaced by materialism.

Feel free to play along!

Happy Halloween

From our little Frog :) Here is a pic we took before taking Kross to the fall festival on Wednesday night.

Follow

Our preacher started a series yesterday called Follow. To be honest, it really made me think. He preached about how many people follow Jesus because of His works rather than His worth. They believe in God because they think it’s a guarantee to go to Heaven. You’ve heard it before… “If you died today, are you 100% sure you would go to Heaven?” Of course, this isn’t a bad question, but it can also mislead non-believers. They accept Jesus and instead of truly following Him, they just believe in Him. It’s like their “get out of hell” card. They want and expect all the benefits Christ has to offer and when they don’t obtain these benefits, they become disappointed and wonder away.

The bottom line is this: If you follow God because of His works, you may be disappointed. God works on His own watch, not ours. Instead, follow Him for who He is and the benefits will follow.

List 7 weird facts about yourself:
1). I hate milk, but I put it in cereal. This is the only time I consume it.
2). I used to hate mushrooms until I got pregnant. Now I like them.
3). I'm claustrophobic... if I'm in a small, confined area, I panic.
4). I can't pretend to like someone if I don't. That's being fake and I don't like that.
5). I'm actually kind of shy. It takes me a while to warm up to someone.
6). I'm very neat and organized. Clutter drives me nuts! If I don't use it, I don't need it.
7). I am terrified of spiders. Terrified.

Poor guy

My poor husband had a rough night last night. We went to bed between 9 and 10pm, which is pretty normal :) Wes was on-call... so around 11pm, the phone rings informing him that there's been a wreck outside of Heavener. He gets up, puts his uniform on and is out the door in minutes. He came back home around 4am and then had to get up at 6am to get ready for work! Poor guy hasn't even complained! Unfortunately, he's on-call again tonight, but hopefully nothing will happen and he will get some rest.

I'm alive

So it's been a while, but you shouldn't be surprised :) Wes is at work and Kross is asleep so there's nothing better to do that update my blog! I wish I had the time to post at least once a week or so, but life happens.

Since my last post... in March, a lot has happened. Wes is officially a trooper! That is the most exciting news I have! He loves his job and I am so happy that he is doing what he's always wanted to do. His hours aren't too bad. Actually, he's home every night throughout the week. He works late on the weekends, but that's okay. It works for us.

Kross is growing up so fast. He is at the "terrible two" stage now even though he's not two yet! I wish someone would have written a book on this stage. Whew! He tests my patience daily, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Pictures from Sunday

Here are some pictures that were taken on Sunday right before Wes had to report back.

Letters

I received two letters from Wes today. Since I don't get to see him or talk to him, this is our only way to communicate in between our Sunday visits. He mentioned some of the things he is going through right now (which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy), but he seems to be doing okay. These letters gave me a peace of mind... just knowing that he's still giving it his all.

Today's Visit

We just got back from OKC. What a trip! Our visit with Wes went well. It was emotional, but that's expected. Kross went right to him, which I knew he would. Wes wasn't as positive as he was last Sunday. He said that this past week "broke him." Hopefully it will get better soon. He has received numerous letters/cards from friends and family and he said those really help him get through the bad times.

I hate to cut this post short, but my child woke up at 4:48am and I haven't been to sleep since. Losing an hour of sleep didn't help matters either. I'm going to unpack, take a shower and go to bed :)

When You're Gone

Here's a link to a video that portrays my feelings these days. It's a little depressing, but I love the song and I wanted to share.

I'm back

Yes, you read that title correctly... I'm back to blogging. It's only been a little over four months :)

I'm not going to blog about everything that has happened in the past four months. That's a lot to cover. We had the holidays, New Year's resolutions, answered prayers, and we found a babysitter. That's about it in a nutshell. The details will take me all night and it's already past my bedtime :)

I do want to mention that Wes is attending the 58th OHP Academy. He left last Friday, February 29th. Sixty people were accepted, 57 showed up, and 1 left after registration. I got to visit Wes for three hours on Sunday, which I am ever so thankful for. When the cadets were released on Sunday, the Academy total was down to 51. This is a very stressful and physical environment, so please keep Wes in your prayers. I know it's not easy, but he's staying strong.

Kross and I are doing fine. We are driving to OKC tomorrow and we will get to see Wes on Sunday morning. I cannot wait! Every time I mention daddy to Kross, he looks at the door. I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees him Sunday. I'm sure he will be excited. Why does it seem like the week creeps by when you have something to look forward to? Not fair. I do get extremely lonely in the evenings, especially after I put Kross to bed. I have been keeping myself busy though... cleaning out the refrigerator, cleaning closets, dresser drawers, etc. Next week I plan to clean my blinds :)
